Tao Hai Yue, a native of a southeastern coastal city in China, grew up during a period of reform and rapid urbanization. After studying sculpture in Shanghai, she pursued an MFA in public art at the Weimar Bauhaus University in Germany. In 2015, Tao Hai Yue and her partner founded YUUE, a product design studio in Berlin, with a mission to explore the intersection of art and design. Three years later, she began to pursue her interests in design and art independently.
Tao Hai Yue is a versatile artist who works with diverse media, such as painting, sculpture, and heterogeneous installation. Her creative practice centers around investigating contemporary issues, including individual and collective memory, migration, and conflict. Tao Hai Yue's art is a reflection of the world around her, and she frequently employs interviews and art writing to express her perspectives.
