Tree Singing
music box, branches, resin
Weimar Germany
Jan 2014
Buchenwald means beech forest. Short wood sections were collected from Buchenwald in order to be reproduced into pin drums of music boxes with resin. The resin pin drums replaced the original metal ones in the music boxes. The protrusions of the surfaces plucked the combs, thus creating a “singing of the tree”.
