Qing Dynasty carved wooden panel, 3D-printed tree support structures
12 × 10 × 22 cm

2026

This sculptural pair combines a Qing Dynasty carved wooden panel with support structures generated during the process of 3D printing. Together, they create an ongoing visual contradiction — a sense of material and temporal misalignment.

The carved panels, produced between the18th and 19th centuries, once belonged to traditional Chinese domestic architecture, most likely used as decorative or functional elements in furniture or interior partitions. With rapid urban redevelopment throughout the twentieth century, many such architectural fragments were removed from their original contexts and entered flea markets as discarded building material.

Instead of repairing the divide between the past and the present, the work holds the viewer in a shifting state of perception, where time no longer feels linear but appears fragmented, layered, and out of sync.
